Mt. Rainier, at a height of 14,410ft is the largest volcano in North America. Just like its close neighbour Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Rainier is an active volcano that could erupt at any time, but it's been inactive now for several centuries. It's only 248 ft taller than Mt. Shasta, but because of the large number of glaciers that must be crossed on Rainier, it's much more difficult and dangerous climb.
But we didn't go there to climb it, we were only visiting the lower slopes of the mountain and driving up to Paradise Lodge. But the next time I come here, I'll be climbing it for sure.
